We have a forum page. I was working on getting a functional guestbook working but I'm too much of an internet numbskull to get it going. However, setting up a forum site was much easier. Click on "Forum" on top to get you there.

Got some summertime bookings!
First of all, it looks like we'll be back at Milwaukee's Summerfest. Tenative date of Sunday, July 6.
Also, we are playing Jazz in the Park in Milwaukee again! Thursday, September 18th. This is a great venue as we'll be the featured act all night!

We're working on lots of new material to bring the energy level of our show up a couple of notches. Also, we're working on material to add to our New Orleans tribute. Stay tuned.

Members of Grooveology will be playing Friday, Nov. 30 at Henry and Wanda's in Racine
(corner of 6th ave and Park St., 7:30 - 11:30). Our drummer, Mike Murphy, has a steady Friday night trio gig there. The club is celebrating their anniversary and they wanted a special group to play. Mike got together most of Grooveology with bass player extraodinaire, Eric Hervey, to play. We'll be playing at lot of Grooveology stuff in addition, guitarist, Bill Stone will be pulling songs from his substantial blues library.

Gearing up for the Summerfest gig. We had a rehearsal last night, and I must say, it went great. Doggoneit, we just don't play enough!

A special treat, for us and I'm sure for the audience, will be the addition of John Seydewitz on congas and percussion. He's a great player and adds so much to our "grooveosity". He's also fun to watch.

This friday's gig will be big fun. Marcia has a few surprises in store. Hope y'all can make it.

April, 2007

Looking forward to playing Milwaukee's Summerfest again this year. Our current star bass player, Tom Good, will be joining us even though he's moved to Nashville.

Marcia and Dave just came back from the French Quarter Festival in New Orleans. Lots of great music and food! That trip has inspired us and we'll be adding some of the great groove music you hear down there to our sets.

We're working on getting some more gigs for this summer. Stay tuned.

This Friday, we'll be up in Plymouth, WI for the annual Cheese Capital Jazz Crawl for the Arts. Plymouth is just south of the famous Elkhart Lake race track, about an hour north of Milwaukee. This will be a fun date for us as we have two guests sitting in. Eric Hervey on bass and Theo Merriweather on keyboards. Eric is a longtime friend of mine and an incredible bass player. He's currently recording and playing with Daryl Stuermer of Phil Collins and Genesis. Theo will be adding his skillful and soulful touch on the keys. This should be a special night.

Just played one of the weirdest gigs I've ever done in my several years as a professional musician. Yesterday, we were into our second tune on the Harley stage at Milwaukee's fabulous Summerfest when the power went out. Not just on the stage, but all of Summerfest and part of downtown Milwaukee! For the next three hours the world's largest music festival turned into the world's largest picnic. Marcia was just about to take the stage when it happened. She didn't get to sing a note.

Oh well, that's show "bidness".

The Jam for Sam event was a huge success. In addition to the fine set [IMHO] put on by Grooveology, the event netted $11,000 for Sam Steffke! This event absolutely brought out the best, as far as talent and generosity, in the Milwaukee musician community. We were proud to be part of it. I've been told that pictures of the event will be posted on the Jam for Sam site soon.

On another note, our vocalist, Marcia will be one of the featured performers in a Local Vocal Brew showcase later this month in Chicago. She'll be performing selections from the Grooveology book and Dave Matsen will be joining in on sax. Details on the Gigs page.

Grooveology will be taking part in a very exciting "jam" benefit. Our keyboard player, Sam Steffke, is presently in the hospital recovering from radical treatment for a rare blood disorder. The Milwaukee musician community has come together for a benefit event called "Jam for Sam" to help pay for Sam's lost wages and expenses during his long recovery. It'll take place on Feb. 24 from 1:00 - 6:00pm at Long Wong's, 5230 W. Bluemound Rd. in Milwaukee. Quite a few of Milwaukee's finest musicians and bands will be performing. If you're a fan of the Milwaukee scene, this is not to be missed!
