Grooveology is the creation of Dave Matsen and Dave Smith; two skilled horn players who set out to play groove-oriented (be it R&B, Jazz or Rock flavored) music with a jamming rhythm section. It looks like they succeeded.
Performing original instrumental tunes inspired by Miles Davis, Horace Silver, Yellowjackets and The Crusaders along with unique arrangements, this band packs a pretty powerful punch. The rhythm section is comprised of some of the most respected musicians in the Midwest. As an added bonus, the smooth vocalist, Marcía is added to the mix and is a crowd favorite.

Over the last two years the band has had great success performing at
premiere Milwaukee events such as Summerfest 2003 thru 2007,
Jazz in the Park, Rainbow Summer, 3rd Ward's Summer Sizzle, and
Milwaukee Art Museum's First Friday. Groovelology's six song EP has received generous airplay on Smooth Jazz WJZI.
